This is the recipe to make the Best Oven-Baked Fries every time!! Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Easy to make and it’s the perfect side to your mains in just 30 minutes!
Healthy Oven-Baked Fries
I love french fries, and if deep-fried french fries aren’t drenched and fried in oil, I would probably eat them every day. This is why I had to create a healthy, oven-baked alternative that has the same satisfying crunch and soft fluffy inside as deep-fried french fries without the extra greasiness.
What Make These Oven-Baked Fries So Good?
I used to just cut my potatoes and throw them directly into a hot oven thinking that was the only way to bake fries and every time they would come out soggy and not nearly as good as if I had of deep-fried them. That was until I found out about boiling the potatoes first before throwing them into the oven. By boiling the potatoes you draw out the moisture which will give you a fluffy inside and a very crispy outside when you bake them.
I also found that using the right potatoes also helps – my favourite is Yukon Gold because of their size and starchiness. I would not recommend russet potatoes as they have a lot of moisture and won’t crisp up in the oven.
What to Pair With?
Everything. But seriously, these potatoes are amazingly versatile and because these potatoes are baked I have found them to be a great side at every meal. I have served them for breakfast under a few sunny-side-up eggs, and also for friends beside some BBQ ribs, hamburgers and chicken. It really is a healthy alternative that everyone seems to enjoy.
